Modular trailers for special transport
Modular systems consist of axle units (typically 2 or 4 axles per module) combined to create custom configurations based on load weight and dimensions. They allow transport from 50 to over 1,000 tonnes by distributing weight across dozens of axles.
Reference manufacturers
- Goldhofer STZ-L: 2-4 axle combinable modules. Hydraulic suspension with automatic levelling. Compatible with PST self-propelled systems.
- Scheuerle (TII group): SPMT modules (Self-Propelled Modular Transporter) for loads up to 15,000 tonnes. Used in offshore, nuclear and civil industry.
- Nicolas (France): MHD modules for heavy industrial transport. Push-pull configurations with multiple tractor units.
